OVERVIEW
Doctor of Philosophy is a program that research by thesis under the supervision of experienced members of academic staff or a supervisory panel. This program produces scholar and educational researchers who can analyze, synthesize knowledge critically and analytically and solve problems based on research ethical inquiry. Thus, they can serve their professional expertise in scholarly discourse and disseminate knowledge, teaching, training, or facilitating in all levels of education.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
DOCTORAL DEGREE BY RESEARCH
- A master's degree in the field or related fields accepted by UTHM Senate; or
- Other qualifications equivalent to a master's degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia.
- Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTHM. (Rigorous Assessment)
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (FAST TRACK)
- Applicants must possess a Bachelor Degree with Honours from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) or any other higher learning institution recognised by the Senate with CGPA of 3.67/4.00 and above.
- Applicants shall be call for an interview prior being offered a place in UTHM postgraduate program. The interview panel members shall include TWO (2) representatives from the respective faculty, ONE (1) representative from UTHM Centre for Graduate Studies and ONE (1) UTHM Senate member.
- The Fast Track Research Proposal shall be evaluated in accordance to the rubric (Download)
- Applicants who comply with the interview requirements shall be offered a place in the UTHM Doctor of Philosophy (Fast Track) program.
- Applicants who do not meet or satisfy the interview requirements shall be offered a place in the UTHM Master Program (by research).

This requirement is subjected to students registered in Semester 1 academic session 2021/2022 onwards - Applicants who graduated with academic qualifications from Higher Learning Institutions in Malaysia recognized by the Senate are eligible to apply for exemption from the English Language Proficiency requirements.
- Applicants who graduated with academic qualifications from Higher Learning Institutions from foreign countries listed as English Speaking Countries are eligible to apply for exemption from the English Language Proficiency requirements.
